Slumber LAN info:
As some of you are aware ‘slumber LAN’ happens the night before TD. For the next couple of TDs we are restricting entry to slumber LAN. Slumber LAN is an invite only LAN. If you’re not invited then you can’t come. The only people invited to slumber LAN are the admin people who will use the time to set up the Gym and servers and the FTP site for the next day. The only other people that will be invited entry to slumber LAN are people who travel form far away and need a place to sleep for the night. That is people from outside the Wollongong area (an hour or more drive). We turn anyone else away as we do not want any distractions from the task as at hand. We will be looking at expanding the invite list in about 3 or 4 TDs in the future.

You could walk away with some fabulous prize of your very own.
Also we want everyone who comes to TD to have a chance of walking away with something. That’s why we are incorporating a lucky door prize. Everyone who attends TD will be eligible to win the lucky door prize. However the more you get involved the more chance you have to win. Upon paying you will be given a raffle ticket. You get more raffle tickets by been actively involved. The more things you do the more raffle tickets you get. The more raffle tickets you get the more chance you have of winning. You’ll receive tickets for the following

* When you arrive and pay you will receive a raffle ticket.
* If when you pay you were registered on the TD site for the event you will receive a ticket.
* For each organised game you actively participate in from start to finish you will receive a ticket. (Your involvement during free play organised games I totally up on the discretion of the Admin staff.

The more you do and the more you get involved the better your chance of winning. Simple

One final thing is that the PCYC the place where we hold our event has a rule that all events held within their walls require people become members. As a result you will be asked to sign up as members of the PCYC at next TD. You entry cost of $10 will give you a years membership to the PCYC. This is membership given at a reduce rate especially for TD participants. All future TD events will require PCYC membership for attendance. Any non members which attend TDs in the future will be asked to pay an additional $5 on top of their TD entry fee to obtain PCYC membership. So we encourage you to sign up at the next TD. (we are aware that some people will not be able to make it to TD so the special offer of $10 entry to TD and membership for the PCYC will be extend to those that are unable to attend the next TD)

See you there.

Teamdamage - a new future

Greetings Teamdamager, A meeting of the Teamdamage admins recently took place to discuss Teamdamage’s current position and future direction. All points of discussion were based on increasing numbers of gamers at future LANs and providing a better LANing atmosphere for those that attend any Teamdamage event. As a result several significant changes were decided upon that we feel will achieve our afore mentioned goals.

It was decided that Teamdamage needs to focus on the core of what it is and that is a PC gaming LAN. As a result we are doing away with or reducing any activity which detracts from the gaming experience. This means there will be no more console games or non PC Gaming activity. The single biggest change will be the setting up of designated file sharing times. File sharing will be limited to the first hour of the LAN, Lunch and a hour towards the end of the LAN. Exact file sharing times will be listed in the official schedule but basically no file sharing will be allowed during time designated as organised gaming time. The main aim of this initiative is to get people focused on gaming. We realised that file sharing is an important part of gaming as it allows the downloading of patches and mod’s that are required to play games hence we have allowed people to get the patches they need during non gaming times.

We have also decided not to serve lunch. In the past a sausage sandwich was provided to people but we have found much of it has gone to waste recently and the returns for the effort do not make it an attractive option. Other factors were discussed like health issues and giving people the option to decide what they want instead of simply supplying one type of food. We would encourage people to bring a lunch or if they like walk to the North Gong hotel, the 7/11 or the near by mini supermarket on Bourke street. If you have a car your free to explore any of the nearby food options.

We also discussed the cost of Teamdamage. Teamdamage has been $10 for the last 8 years. However we have decided to keep the entry cost at $10. However we have decided to charge people $5 for each additional machine they bring.

Prizes - we have decided to offer prizes at Teamdamage not for winning games but by participating. Each Teamdamage will now have a significant prize that anyone turning up will be eligible to win. To decide who will win a raffle ticket system will be in place. You will receive a ticket for each game you seriously participate and for other key activities. This means the more games you play and the more you get involved the more tickets you will get and therefore the greater the chance you have to win. More details about the prizes and what you need to do to earn tickets will be released with the next Teamdamage schedule.

Looking forward to seeing you at the new improved Teamdamage.

Greetings Ladies and gents,

Here is the line-up chosen by you for the next Teamdamage on the 24th February

10.00: Doors open

11.00: Flatout2

13.00: BBQ Lunch

13.30: Company of Heroes

16.00: Team Fortress 2

18.00: PIZZA!!!

18.30: UT3 – Capture The Flag

20:00: Power off

Our patch distro system will be changing from Pirate’sODC, to DC++. The latest stable version is DC++ 0.704.
The reason for this change is file corruption. The latest DC++ is a hashing system designed to minimise file corruption by implementing TTH to screen for corruption during transfer as well as speeding up file transfer by grabbing the source from more than one machine at a time.

Moddy is working on a pre-configured version that will be suitable for the LAN. Because this is a hashing client, any patches/demos shared will need to be hashed initially. Depending on the number and size of patches shared, hashing can take from 30 min to a few hours. We will be placing the pre-configured version on the teamdamage site to allow you install and hash the appropriate files. Keep an eye on the forum for more details.

Registrations are now open.

Greetings Ladies and Gentlemen,

It do be that time again, here is the games list for the 23rd of September LAN

10.00: Doors open

11.00: BF2142 - Battlefield 2142
Patch v1.25 - (latest version available) http://www.fileplanet.com/169168/160…42-Patch-v1.25

In Battlefield 2142™, players choose to fight for one of two military superpowers - the European Union or the newly formed Pan Asian Coalition -in an epic battle for survival.
Armed with a devastating arsenal of hi-tech weaponry, including assault rifles, cloaking devices and sentry guns, players will also take control of the most lethal vehicles known to man. Massive Battle Walkers wage fierce combat on the ground, while futuristic aircraft rule the skies. When taking on this futuristic armor players will need to use their wits and an arsenal of new hi-tech countermeasures like EMP grenades and smart mines to level the playing field.

13.00: BBQ Lunch

13.30: StarCraft - Windows 1.15.1 Patch
- http://www.blizzard.com/support/?id=…#windows_patch

In the distant future a small group of human exiles have been doomed to fight for survival on the edge of the galaxy. Through military strength, espionage and deceit, a unified Terran government has maintained an uneasy peace. As resources run short, however, these Confederate nations find themselves looking towards the rich worlds of their alien neighbors, the enigmatic Protoss. To further complicate matters, it seems that a previously unknown and deadly species known only as the Zerg has entered Protoss space and is destroying everything in its path. The time for war has come…

16.00: Nerf ArenaBlast - Nerf Arena Blast
http://au.gamespot.com/pc/action/nerfarenablast/

Nerf ArenaBlast has an interesting concept. Ostensibly a family-friendly version of multiplayer combat games like Quake III: Arena and Unreal Tournament, Nerf ArenaBlast replaces rocket launchers and chain guns with foam-rubber-firing alternatives and trades the darkened hallways and desolate space stations of its unabashedly violent counterparts for serene forest settings and brightly lit corridors

18.00: PIZZA!!!

18.30: Soldat - version 1.4.2.
http://www.soldat.pl/download.html

Soldat is a unique side-view multiplayer action game. It takes the best from games like Liero, Worms, Quake and Counter-Strike and gives you fast action gameplay with tons of blood and flesh. Soldiers fight against each other on 2D battle arenas using a deadly military arsenal. This is what multiplayer was invented for.

Great Teamdamage

Ladies and Gentlemen

What a great lan, we have completed another lan, and what fun it was.

Activities ranging from destroying the world to shooting/killing/boxing gave us all something to do.

Foam darts are a source of endless fun, and the variety of arsenal that the good Dr smuggled into the LAN was immense fun. Machine guns, Hand pistols, Rocket launcher provided endless fun for IRL Counter strike/(insert other great FPS’s in here). Getting the suction cupped foam darts down from the ceiling though could pose a challenge though. Many attempts using other foam bullets to get the original bullets down was unsuccessful.

Counter Strike source was a lot of fun and the game went without a hitch. Nick and Moddy where clear leaders throughout the whole game. We captured stats and these will be posted soon.

Destroying the major cotenants on the earth made Wonko and DrAngryRahvin the winners of the Defcon comp. Wonko clearly won the first annihilation leaving the world glowing green and the good Dr edged out Nick and took first place on the second attempt at world destruction. Congrats also goes to Tyr who only lost 25 million people whilst babysitting the US continent in the second game. This was at least 1/4 less than the next closest person.

Quake 3 was a lot of fun, with at least 10 people in the server most of the time. Twas a mixed game with Chris winning most of the games, generally by 3 – 4 frags. Well done all.

Walking trees and ugly monsters Vs Guys with axes and super strong guys pushing around catapults. That is Savage 2. Everyone that played Really enjoyed.

All in all I thought it was a great lan.

Thankyou goes to Moddy and Carter who have setup a linux based router/proxy. This enables web content to be cached locally. They have also been working on a steam content delivery engine from the server. Also a thank you to DrAngryRahvin for the snags on the BBQ.

A thankyou also goes to everyone who helped backup. This task is soo much easier with many hands. And many thanks again

Unfortunately though, due to some circumstances, this may have been my last lan for a while. I’ll still be doing a lot of behind the scenes work though. Working on the forum, organising game lists, even setting up game servers. Twas a whole heap of fun though. Thank ya all for the fun lans and I do hope I can still continue to make it to lans.
